Welcome to the Mothersphere

I’ve discovered the manosphere.

A support group for men who accidentally encountered accountability and assumed it was oppression.

Apparently they’re reclaiming masculinity.

Fair enough.

I’d like to announce the launch of
The Mothersphere.

Our political objective is considerably less ambitious.

We’re reclaiming mediocrity.

The movement is founded on one deeply controversial principle:

A mother should occasionally be allowed to perform at the same standard as the average person.

The proposal has, predictably, been described as radical.

Early trials have been encouraging.

Researchers found that children raised without handmade birthday decorations were still able to recognise love.

Early findings also suggest a mother can miss one school event without permanently altering her child’s attachment style.

Preliminary evidence suggests maternal guilt has little correlation with the quality of one’s parenting.

These findings challenge decades of accepted maternal policy.

The Mothersphere therefore rejects the outdated assumption that every family requires one permanently overqualified project manager.

We believe “good enough” should once again be considered… good enough.

Of course, we’ll also be launching a podcast.

It appears that’s now a legal requirement for starting any movement.
